Juan Chaves is a high school chemistry
teacher in Stafford Virginia, where he
lives with his wife, Rachel, and their
three children, Eula, Dominique (Pops),
and Luke.
Chaves has a master’s degree in
marine science from North Carolina
State University and a
bachelor’s in marine biology from
Florida Institute of Technology.
He got the inspiration for many of the
scenes in this book while traveling
throughout the South Pacific and
Caribbean, where he worked as a
marine biologist for many years.
